Proper Installation Requires the Use of Loctite BLUE 242.
Prior to the installation of the knob, the original knob must be removed from the reel handle. All bearings and shims must also be removed. The removal of the original knob as well as the installation of the new knob requires the simple use of only a Phillips screw driver and Loctite 242 Blue, nothing more.
The following parts are included with the knob.
1. 5mm x 11mm x 3mm Ball Bearing in the base of the knob.
2. (2) 5mm x 8mm x 1mm Shims in the bottom of the spindle chamber of the knob.
3. 4mm x 9mm x 2.5mm Ball Bearing on top of the 2 shims.
4. 2.5mm screw with Loctitie Blue
Attaching the Knob to the Handle Spindle:
1. Remove the top half of the knob and any paper found inside the spindle chamber.
2. Remove the tape from the bottom of the knob and place the knob onto the reel spindle.
3. Place the the bottom half of the knob on the Spindle.
NOTE: Make sure the tip of the Spindle is inserted into the Top Bearing.
If not, you must 'seat' the bearing onto the tip of the Spindle.
The tip of the Spindle must just pertude a very small amount beyond the top of the bearing.
4. Place the NYLOK screw into the Spindle and tighten the screw all the way. If the Stem does not spin freely, loosen the screw slightly until it spins. The NYLOK screw prevents the Stem from loosening or tightening.
NOTE: It is very important to insure the screw is carefully inserted and tightened keeping it parallel with the spindle. If not the screw will become cross threaded, and a gap will appear at the base of the housing. The best way to ensure proper insertion is to begin turning the screw in the opposite direction until you 'feel' movement of the screw. Then screw down completely.
